Since its inception Isabel Cuadrado (Oviedo, 1965) has shown as an artist difficult to categorize, engaged in a personal and global vision of a world that has in the everyday and many of the key women in his work. Multidisciplinary artist trained in the Faculties of Fine Arts in Bilbao and Madrid, his career has been marked by a continued commitment to modernity. From his earliest works, in painting, sculpture or recorded covers a wide range of trends from potsminimalistas conceptual positions, but always resolved with a special sensitivity.
His interest in printmaking goes back to his student days at the University, combining her formal studies with various courses of intaglio and serigraphy in Calella and San Sebastian. In fact his interest in graphic art has remained constant over the years, as evidenced by the work done in the Frans Masereel Center in Belgium where he has been in 1998 or his work as a teacher at the Escuela de Arte de Oviedo.
The serialization idea is very present in his work, has application in this series of photogravures, with Watch the various pieces of iconographic material, a visual metaphor of time. But the solution used in the creation of images transcends the literary figure turning the script in a multiple and complex proposal. Isolated from various parts of the machinery of the clock each involves an appreciation of different time and a visual approach that covers a wide range of aesthetic strata. A geometric purity of the hands and contrasts internal gear which brings graphic representation distant echo the futuristic machines, as well as their movement, embodied by a relation of spirals, approaches to kinetic art. If all the different prints combine the modes of time, the different assessment from happiness to alienation from the love of solitude and say, as in the verses of Vinokurov, their absence.
